Molecular Biologist and Associate Research Scientist
UNITED STATES - Afa K. Palu graduated from BYU-Hawaii in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. He also received an associate’s degree in Computer Science. He investigated the effects of Cassia alata L. leaves against some bacterial species while he was at BYU-HC.
He moved with his wife and children to Utah to attend graduate school. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a master’s in Plant Molecular Genetics in which he worked in Characterization of Maize Mutants. He also works with some of the medicinal plants used by his ancestors in Tonga. It was during this time that he learned about Tahitian Noni International.
Afa says, “I was first introduced to noni by my grandmother and mother since they were both Tongan and very familiar with the beneficial properties of the noni fruit. Through this knowledge, they were able to share it with many people.”
“As a molecular biologist and an associate research scientist for Tahitian Noni International, I know why noni works for me. I am now studying the noni fruit from Monday to Friday every week throughout the whole year. I have discovered numerous amounts of potential health benefits of noni in which we have applied for patents from the U.S. and other countries in the world. Because of TNI, I have some evidence to verify what my ancestors have said. Their God-given knowledge has served to bless my life and others around the world.”
He continues, “Tahitian Noni International is bringing to you the very best of what my ancestors can offer in terms of purity, potency, and authenticity in TAHITIAN NONI® Juice. That is something that cannot be duplicated nor copied by competitors. That is a story worth telling to our children and those who will come after us.”

Patent Awarded 2005
1. US Patent 6855345.
As of now, Afa has more patents (provisional and pending) pertaining to the noni fruit and TAHITIAN NONI® Juice than any researcher in the noni industry.
Afa has discovered more benefits from the noni plant (fruits, leaves, seeds) than anyone else in the world.
2. As part of his responsibilities, Afa oversees the patenting of TNI intellectual properties pertaining to noni health benefits research.
Speaker
Afa has spoken and presented his research at Tahitian Noni International Leadership Conventions since 2002, as well as in several distributor meetings.
HTAB/GAB Member
Afa is a member of the Health and Technical Advisory Board (now called the Global Advisory Board) for TNI.
