Russell Harris

Director of the American Quarter Horse Association

Russell Harris has been training race horses for 35 years. He has had seven world champion runner horses, 25 grade one stakes wins, and all told, his horses have run out over $15 million in earnings. Harris is the Director of the American Quarter Horse Association in Texas and sits on the Racing Council of the American Quarter Horse Association.

Raised in South Alabama, Harris grew up around horses. “I matched race horses as a kid,” he says. Harris’s love for horses and his competitive spirit led him to seek a profession in race training. He thoroughly enjoys the hands-on training he is able to provide each horse, and he trains an average of 35 horses at a time.
